Colleen was born in Hong Kong and started learning the piano at the age of four. Since 1987 she has been studying under Eleonor Wong at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. Colleen obtained her Bachelor of Music with First Class honors in 2001 and completed her Professional Diploma Course with distinction in 2003. She will be furthering her studies at the Hanover Hochschule on scholarship from the HK Jockey Club. Most recently Colleen won the first prize at the third Seller International Piano Competition after receiving in 2002 the first prize at the seventh Hamamatsu International Academy Competition, Japan. Earlier on she had won the first prizes at the 1994 Newport International Competition for Young Pianists in the UK and the 1993 Junior Gina Bachauer International Competition in the US. Colleen has appeared in concerts with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, the Queensland Philarmonic Orchestra , the Shanghai and the Bangkok Symphony Orchestras and the HK Sinfonietta , among others. In 2001 she premiered in Hong Kong the piano concerto of Loris Tjeknavorian. She has participated in various festivals including the Carinthia in Austria, and the Prades in France. Under the sponsorship of the Chopin Society of Hong Kong she has performed in London, Poland, Jakarta and Bangkok. The Seiler Competition: The competition was launched in 1999 by Seiler, the well-known manufacturer of pianos in Bavaria, Germany, to mark the 150th anniversary of the firm.
