Pianist Dong Hyek
Lim, now eighteen years old, was born in Seoul, S.Korea and received his first
piano and music lessons at the preparatory classes at the National
Conservatory in Seoul. In 1994 he moved to Moscow where he continued his studies
at the Central Specialised Music School of the Moscow State Conservatory. Since
1998 he has been studying at Moscow
State Conservatory, under Prof. Lev Naumov. In
1996, aged just twelve, he won in Moscow the second prize at the Second
International Chopin Competition for Young Pianists. In 2000 he
won prizes at the prestigious Busoni and Hamamatsu competitions,
crowning, however, these achievements with the First Grand Prize at the December
2001 Marguerite Long International Piano Competition held in Paris. Dong
Hyek has played in cities such as Moscow,
Berlin, Paris, and Warsaw, among others, performed in charity concerts,
including celebrations of UNESCO�s 50th anniversary, as well as
participating in numerous festivals. In May 2001 he
recorded his debut CD album with EMI Classics as part of the series �Martha
Argerich presents..?/font>
